Frequently asked questions
Before you begin
What if I am unsure which consultation I need?
Choose £120 for repair, extensions, reconstruction or uncertainty. Choose £199 whenever thinning, alopecia, hair loss or vulnerable areas are involved. The £69 route is only for clearly healthy, established dreadlocks requiring straightforward maintenance.
How does the consultation process work?
After payment, complete the relevant assessment form and provide the requested photographs, history and goals. Your starting point is reviewed before the most appropriate next step is recommended.
Can I receive a service quotation before assessment?
Not accurately. The required work depends on your hair, scalp, density, existing structure, history and intended result.
How is the £120 Planning Consultation carried out?
It usually begins with your assessment form, photographs and message-based guidance by email or WhatsApp. If a deeper live review is required, the Advanced Case route may be recommended.
How is the £199 Advanced Case Consultation carried out?
This deeper specialist route may include an extended WhatsApp review or Zoom consultation where needed.
Can you continue another loctician’s work?
Sometimes, but not automatically. Existing dreadlocks may need a fresh assessment where there is major regrowth, discomfort, breakage, merging, weak roots or structural damage.
Where are you based?
Dreadlocks by KNOT is based in Brighton & Hove, South East UK. In-person services are normally carried out here.
What if I live far away or outside the UK?
Consultations can be provided remotely. Depending on your case, you may receive guidance about the safest route and whether travelling for specialist work should be considered.
Do you travel or provide home visits?
In suitable cases this may be discussed after assessment, depending on the work, complexity and location.
Can you guarantee a particular result?
No specific result can responsibly be guaranteed before the hair has been properly assessed. The consultation establishes what appears realistic, safe and appropriate.
